My first wireless keyboard for my ipad 2 and I love it., By

I am writing this review with my new apple keyboard that I purchased from the Apple store because I had a gift card to use there. I also figured if I didn’t like it for my ipad 2 that I would use it the Mac Mini I plan on purchasing in the next couple of days. Pros – Beautiful design like all of the apple products. It matches well with the ipad 2 or any other mac product. I have never really liked typing long emails from my ipad because i felt it was a little too awkward so I would keep my emails short. Now with this keyboard paired to my iPad 2, I feel very comfortable writing this review with the case I already purchased months ago. It will take a few minutes to get used to typing on the keyboard and then going to touch the screen to navigate around the page. I typically associate typing on a physical keyboard with a mouse to navigate the page. Anyways, if you do end up ordering one, make sure you get the newest version and I hope you enjoy it like I do. I forgot to mention that I just ordered one for my mom because she loves writing emails…long ones. Update 11/14/2011 – I still love the keyboard. No durability issues. I now use it on my mac mini everyday too.

Great for Cat Owners, By

My desk at home is crowded. (It is actually a breakfast bar at the moment.) I already had a very nice wireless Logitech keyboard made for the Mac (no longer available) but I couldn’t turn it off. You see, our cats like to walk on the breakfast bar while we are out or asleep. Many mornings, I’ve come out to find that they have been attempting to chat with their Facebook friends, access my bank accounts and shop Amazon for kitty toys. When I caught them going to feline dating sites, that was when I decided that I needed a keyboard I could switch off at night. My boss has the older version of this keyboard at work (the one that takes three batteries I believe) so I played with it and decided I could live with the smaller keyboard. Amazon delivered this quickly, saving me a trip to Apple store or Walmart, and for the same price. The only trouble that I’ve had with it is getting used to the size. I rarely use the internal keyboard of my MacBook Pro 17″. It is in a docking station at home and at work, most always with the lid closed. As a touch typist, I don’t look at the keyboard except to use the keys like launchpad, volume, etc. So for some reason my left hand wants to position itself on key to the left of where it should go. After a week of use however, it is starting to fall in the correct position. Typing on it is really no different than typing on the notebook keyboard. It has a good feel to it though I long for the days of the IBM M “click” keyboard. But not enough to pay 0+ for the current equivalent. I don’t miss the numeric keypad found on my full size keyboards. For whatever reason I just don’t use that as much as I did years ago, so the loss of it hasn’t really had an impact on me. Besides being able to power down the keyboard to keep our cats in line, this keyboard and my “Magic Track Pad” or whatever Apple calls it fit into my computer bag taking up almost no room and adding very little weight. As a result, when I go into the office, all three devices (the notebook is included) go with me.

Function keys don’t work on latest version for iPad, By

A word of caution! The function keys for the newest version just purchased from this site don’t work with the ipad2. This apparently doesn’t apply to earlier versions but it does to the ones they are currently selling. It appears to be a software problem with the model mc1844ll/b model. While trying to sort this out I went to the apple site and there is a long discussion string on this with a lot of frustration. There was speculation that a future software upgrade for the iPad may fix it but the apple folks apparently just said too bad, do you want a refund and won’t explain even though their ads state that the function keys (brightness, volume, etc.) work with the iPad but they don’t with the current recently released model. Two stars for it being nice looking and nice touch on the main keys but not four or five for not living up to advertisements and not testing this before releasing a new model. |
